Sialic Acid in Human Semen

ثبت نشده
چکیده

Sialic acid of seminal fluid of eighty two human subjects has been studied in relation to infertility. Normozoospermic group had highest sialic acid content (94 mgm/100 mt of the fluid) and was sign ificantly different from other groups. The lowest sialic acid level was observed: n necrozoosperm ic group (54 mgm/1 00 mt of the fluid). Azoospermic (62 mgm/100 ml) and vasectomised group (73 mgm/1 00 ml) had 33 and 22 percen t less sia lie acid level respectively than normozoosperm ic group. For the pooled observation sialic acid was found to be correlated (r=0.282, significant at 5 percent level) with the total sperm count.

The Effect of Sialic Acid on miR-320a and let-7e Expression in Human Glial Cell Line

Introduction: Sialic acid plays pivotal roles in various critical physiological events at molecular and cellular levels and also pathological processes. Changes in sialic acid concentration are observed in many pathological processes; for example, there are some available data on the evaluated level of sialic acid and neurodegenerative prevalence. It can be proposed that sialic acid can play a ...

Sialic Acid in Semen, Spermatozoa and Serum of Mammals.

A comparative study of the sialic acid content of semen, serum and spermatozoa from several mammalian species was made. The sialic acid content of semen showed a very wide range of concentration in the four species examined, while the sialic acid concentrations in serum were much more uniform. The semen from man and bull contained higher concentrations of sialic acid than the serum of these res...

Assessment of Sialic Acid Distribution in Mouse Epididymis

Previous studies have shown that epididymal epithelium and its secretions are critical for sperm maturation. These secretions contain many glycoconjugates with sialic acid terminal sugar. This terminal sugar by interveining in cellular interactions and masking surface receptors, has an important role in sperm maturation and protection. Moreover lectins have been employed as useful probes to det...

Plasma paraoxonase, sphingosine-1-phosphate, total sialic acid, and heat shock protein-27 in the liver of the sheep naturally infected with Cysticercus tenuicollis: Evidence on pathological changes

The present study aimed to investigate whether sphingosine 1 phosphate (S1P), paraoxonase (PON), total sialic acid (TSA), and heat shock protein-27 (HSP27) are altered in the sheep during infection of the liver with Cysticercus tenuicollis. This study was conducted on40 healthy sheep and40 sheep with Cysticercus tenuicollis infection. The infected and non-infected animals were selected based on...
